Raritan splits at County College of Morris
Raritan Valley Community College gets their first win of the season against County College of Morris in game one on Saturday.
RVCC got out to a 5-run lead in the seventh inning and held on for an 8-7 victory over County College of Morris. They got on the board in the top of the first inning after Clara Jorgensen walked, and Riley Dosch singled to center field, each scoring one run. Raritan Valley CC added three runs in the second. Jayla McNeil doubled to center field, just missing a homerun, making the score 5-1.
Yaneli Ruiz Lopez earned the first win for Raritan. The southpaw gave up 14 hits and seven runs (five earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking nine. J. Kondnski took the loss for County College of Morris.
McNeil provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led Raritan Valley with three runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-5 on the day. Dosch went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Raritan Valley in hits. Isabella Gallegos and Kelsey Butler each collected multiple hits for Raritan. The Lady Lions had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 12 walks for the game. Ruiz Lopez and Elena Canales led the team with three walks each. RVCC turned one double play in the game.

Raritan dropped game two vs the Titans. Despite leading by as many as four runs, RVCC fell to County College of Morris 24-10 in the second contest of the day.
Raritan collected 10 hits and County College of Morris had 14 in the high-scoring affair. The Lady Lions got on the board in the top of the first inning after McNeil walked, Jorgensen walked, Dosch singled to right field, and Gallegos singled to right field, each scoring one run.
Yaneli Ruiz Lopez stepped in the circle first for Raritan Valley CC. The pitcher surrendered nine hits and 14 runs (13 earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking 14. K. Shivani Shelke took the mound for an inning as well in her first showing for RVCC.
Gallegos led Raritan Valley with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Dosch led Raritan with three hits in three at-bats. Shelke collected two hits for RVCC in three at-bats. The Lady Lions had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game. Jorgensen and Butler led the team with two walks each. Shelke stole two bases. Raritan Valley CC ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game.

The Lady Lions will be back in action on Tuesday, April 7th, as Lackawanna College comes to town for another two at home. Game times are at 3pm and 5pm.
