Softball completes two doubleheaders
The Rartian Valley Lady Lions softball team took on Sussex County Community College this past Tuesday, March 17th, at Diamond Nation and came back to their home field for a meeting with Delaware Technical Community College on Saturday, March 21st.
During the first matchup vs Sussex, Elena Canales and Kelsey Butler each collected two hits. Canales and Clara Jorgensen each drove in a run. Rebekah White paced RVCC with three walks on the day. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. White, Butler, and Jayla McNeil each stole a bag multiple times, and the Lady Lions ran wild on the base paths, collecting nine stolen bases. Yaneli Ruiz Lopez was the losing pitcher after going five innings and notching her first strikeout of the season.
The second matchup of the day for RV, Riley Dosch and Butler each collected two hits, and Isabella Gallegos went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. RVCC continued to run the bases, accumulating three stolen bases. Ariel Glezman took the loss for RV after going five innings and notching her first strikeout of the season as well.
In the first meeting vs Delaware Tech on Saturday, Glezman took the loss, notching two more strikeouts for herself. Gallegos and Butler each collected one hit for RVCC. Gallegos led the team with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day.
RVCC and Delaware Tech met again, this time with Butler going 1-for-1 on the day. McNeil, Dosch, and White all also recorded hits for the Lady Lions in a hard-fought contest. Ruiz Lopez took the loss after five innings pitched.
Up next for Raritan Valley Community College is another home doubleheader on Tuesday March 24th where Salem Community College comes to town. Game times are set for 3pm and 5pm.
