The RVCC women's volleyball team is entering their third season in the Fall of 2017. Phil Herro is entering his third season as the head coach, and has continued to build the program.
Last season, Hannah Eisenstein was named third team All Region XIX. The libero from Bridgewater, NJ had an outstanding season for the Lions, and was a major factor on the defensive end, as she finished the season with 317 digs. Her average of 6.6 digs per set ranked her second among all NJCAA Division III players.
The other returners feature outside hitters Brooke Scheier and Taylor Moskal. Both had impressive freshman seasons, as Scheier finished with a team high 106 kills, and a team high 52 service aces. Moskal tallied 60 kills and 24 service aces. The sophomore newcomers include setter/ outside hitter Ashley Hunt and outside/middle hitter Mekayla Dela Cruz. The freshmen include outside hitter Chandra Ramlogan, opposite hitter Stephanie Seymour, and setter Bria Reasoner. Danielle Burnejko and Nyah Morales will be middle hitters, while Guliana Garcia and Lauren Herman will serve as defensive specialists.
Herro took some time to talk about his upcoming season, saying "our entire team is very excited about this year. We return three players that all started for us last year and have our best incoming class we've ever had. The new players seem to be picking up concepts every day and our sophomores are doing a great job as leaders. Our new assistant, Kelsie Fleming, has been a tremendous addition and has made an immediate impact on team skill and strategy and brings wonderful energy and much needed experience. The season can't come fast enough!"
The Lions begin their season on Thursday, August 31st at home when they face Bucks County Community College at 6 p.m.
