Pemberton, NJ-- The RVCC softball team split a doubleheader with Rowan College at Burlington County on Sunday. RCBC took game one by a final score of 6-0, however the Lions countered with a 3-0 victory in extra innings.
In game one, the Lions were unable to push across any runs despite having seven hits. Freshman infielder Chessie Tomari went 2-3 with a double, and freshman pitcher Amanda Hansen went 2-3 as well. Freshman infielders Ashley Vonhorn and Megan Mack each went 1-3, as well as freshman catcher Amya McMillan. Hansen went six innings in the circle and only allowed two earned runs.
In game two, the game was scoreless at the end of the seventh inning. In the top of the eighth RVCC scored three runs. Freshman outfielder Kaycie Sconda drove one in with an RBI sacrifice fly. McMillan and Mack then scored on an error, and the Lions were able to shut the door in the bottom of the eighth inning. Sophomore right handed pitcher Sara Gebert threw a great game, as she allowed zero earned runs, only three hits, and struck out five in eight innings of work. Gebert got the win to improve her record to 2-3, and only walked two batters.
